Essity Canada Inc. and Conestoga College's Schlegel Centre for Advancing Seniors Care:
Essity Canada Inc and Conestoga College's Schlegel Centre for Advancing Seniors Care have developed an online educational video for unregulated care providers (UCPs; i.e. personal support workers and nursing aides) working in nursing homes to support residents living with functional urinary incontinence.
It covers:
- Types, causes, and risk factors of incontinence
- Diagnosis, care planning, and care evaluation procedures for continence care
- Continence care product selection, application and removal
- Related peri-care and infection control procedures
Video content and delivery promotes the application of evidence-based and person-centred continence care by introducing UCPs to incontinence and guiding them through best practices for a case study designed to focus on residents' needs, based on nursing home residents' demographics.
